This beautiful old weatherboard two storey pub was originally established in 1874. It is now a popular watering hole with the locals and tourists and affectionately known as the Top Pub or The Toppie. The Cooktown Hotel has great food, entertainment and accommodation. Everybody is always welcome.

History
Opened by Andrew Threadgold in 1874 as The White Horse Hotel
Taken over by James Bowden in 1875/77.
Then in August by Langeschwerdt 1877/79.
Tinn Jansen 1879/84.
John Keating took over, rebuilt the Hotel and renamed it The Commercial Hotel in 1885.
Today it is owned and operated by Michael Wilson as The Cooktown Hotel, also known as The Top Pub.
